I have strongly been affected by English pronunciation. Could you tell me the way to change?
the wrong tone is not the make or break scenario that some would imagine. If a word is spoken alone with "wrong" tone, it will be understood by a Thai person, but, you be thinking of one word and the Thai person will undestand something different. Wrong tone for a word within context of a sentence is not always as catastrophic as you might think, it will usually just bring some laughter but the Thai will compensate and understand that you're a farang, and, just think of the correct word. :)
thank you Khruu Wee, I've been in Thailand now about 1 1/2 years and still tones are hard, not to say, but to remember which tone to use. I know so many words, by sound, not neccesarily by tone. For speakers of languages, like English, that don't use tone to change meaning, this difficult to understand. In English we use tones also, but, to express emotion or form a question. To English speakers this concept of word meaning change is just so foreign. I'm sure I use the wrong tone often but try:)
You explain and teach very well! I am happy to come across your video (at times I was smiling with ecstasy! because I am happy to learn Thai language!). Thank you for teaching us!
แล้วสอนอ่านเขียนภาษาไทยนี้ยากใหมครับ มีชาวต่างชาติเรียนเขียนอ่านบ้างใหมครับเนี้บ
pretty easy! :) im gonna suscribe ur channel you´re cute!
Oh my God very dificult
kruwee your are great teacher!!! thank you!!!
Bobby, how's the learning going? I'm 22, moving to Thailand. I've lived there before, but never was sure how long I would stay. I speak Portugûes and English, but neither are tonal!! To have one word with 5 different meanings (maa) through tone seems impossible to me! Any tips for a novice, in actually remembering words, phrases and constructing and understanding Thai? I don't want to remember just the odd word or phrase, I want to converse!
Thank you for your uploads. They are very helpful!
Kru Wee, you certainly are fantastic, krap!! I Enjoy learning Thai so much; you make it FUN. By you writing on the board, I have a much better undrstanding of your language. The tone has to be the hardest about pasa tai to me at this time. I have been to Thailand twice, working on #3....Thanks again :)
I have viewed many of your clips; this is the "toughest" one so far, yet no too tough to grasp. If I happen to be in Thailand again I will have to ask you to tutor me for a day or two. Thanks again!!

It's really like singing, but instead of 12 semitones and 3-4 octaves you have only to learn 3 fixed notes (middle, low and high tones) and learn to use legato with those 3 notes to form the rising and the falling tones. Record your voice and repeat the 5 tones just humming. in five minutes you are able to reproduce the five tones, now add a short word like "mai" and sing the five tones. Next step, learn to read, unless you want to memorize every freaking tone in the dictionary..lol
No wonder my Thai aunty speaks english like singing ( with a tone) hehe!
tone languages are so damn difficult! You are a pretty good teacher, though!
It's totally wrong. For news anchor or TV host, if you can't pronounce ร properly, you'd failed the test. Too bad many stars on TV can't work it but still got a job.
I wanna ask that which tones do the following(่ ้ ๋ ๊) correspond to?
Is it true that if ร is the second consonant in a word, it is silent? I have heard สวัสดีกรับ said as "sawatdeekab".
feels so un natural using tones . hard to get used to
Thanks, very helpful. I am learning Thai and refer to your videos very often. Good explaination of tones.
Interesting!
Sawasdee krub, Thai girl. My name is Frank. I am a Farang. I would like to let you know that I like to yed hee Thai mark mark krub. Thai girls, how much ja? I tell you Thai, I travel around the world; Thai girls are easiest to have sex with. Even the Thai king's daughter used to marry a Farang and now she got dump by her husband. I am very happy to be a Farang because I can get Thai girls to yed easily.
THX.
Brilliant! I am attending a Thai language course and I couldn't hear the difference between the 5 tones, but now Inunderstand, thank you!!
your an awesome teacher!
thank you so much
Thank you to make Thai language more interested.
Thanks for the lesson, very clear
exactly! tones are the hardest part but finally everyone could identify, understand and speak clear , the others.... for example Thai structure, grammar or basic question are very easy :D
I think tones are the hardest part in learning Thai, but I think it's just a matter of practice like anything else :)
