He could be mentally challenged, autistic, hyperactive, any number of disabilities that would affect his thinking, as most normal kids like your boys wouldn't have tried this stunt. Did you ever consider he may have special needs as I mentioned above? You keep wanting to dodge the bullet on this one. The child was unsupervised. I'm starting to think you have some personal interest in this situation, as you continue to defend the parents.

@MsEdHardly not sure if you know this but this wasn't my child... everyone is discussing this child's incident and nothing further. it is the responsibility of every child and their parents to protect them from harm, even when others leave obvious hazards available for even a 6 year old to gain access. i know that if my child sees a knife they wont touch it, and they will not touch a hot frying pan well within access of their reach... this is what is taught and learned.

@wayneljm Looks like you have as much condifence in your kids as the parents had in this kid. Good, then they really don't require much supervsion, already at age 2 knowing the consequences of their actions. You can save money on babysitters that way. Must be nice to drop them off at a park while you go get your hair done, or do they just walk there by themselves and walk back?

@MsEdHardly i have a 4.5 year old and a near 2year old, both boys. they have enough capability to know that climbing something high up could mean you fall down. a 6 year old is simply taken in by the temptations of peers and attempting a higher level of bravery than the other kid. life will continue this way even after they've been taught. parents are not there because the child probably had a key to the house and if not then perhaps their parents confidence in their independence is to blame

@wayneljm If you knew much about child development, children really don't have good reasoning and common sense skills at age 6. This is only three years older than a toddler! Do you really think a six year old, just going into first grade thinks of cause and effect; i.e., if I do A, then B will happen? And, yes, losing a child is the worst pain a parent can experience, but where were the parents?

You must remember that the laws there are not like the ones in where ever you are from. Not every country is the same. its kind of true that no one told him to switch seats... no one probably told him to go to the ferris wheel in the first place, otherwise he would have an adult with him. i guess his death came from disobedience. even a kid can tell why there's a fence around a ferris wheel, it's dangerous, he's NOT supposed to go there. he did it anyway, oh well.

@AmberRock7 If the parents were totally out of the picture working to put food on the table, then they'd be in real trouble with child protection services for neglecting their son and child endangerment. I don't care what he did. It's the law for a young child to be accompanied by an adult or caregiver in an amusement park to avoid accidents from happening. I truly hope you don't have children some day, 'cause you're under the impression a six-year-old is able to make rational decisions.

The fact that he jumped over a fence, started the thing, then climbed in makes me think that he knew what he was doing to some point and if he didn't then maybe the parents should have taught him in some way to at least let him know the dangers but at the same time you don't expect a ferris wheel to just be out there unprotected for any kid to climb in. And as far as we know the parents could have been working to but food on the table.
