MADRID / SPAIN RIOTS - Police BEAT UP Protesters outside Congress. CRAZY footage of night violence Skirmishes continue between protesters and riot police in Madrid, with cops firing rubber bullets and tear gas at the crowd. Fourteen people have been injured and 22 arrested, local media report. Riot Police belted protesters, dragging some them by the arms and legs, who had tried to get through police lines. An uneasy order was restored and police have brought in reinforcements and have begun to try and disperse the crowd. Anti-government protests in Madrid Tuesday devolved into riots, after groups of tactical police charged and beat an agitated crowd. Spanish media reported dozens of arrests and scores of serious injuries, not a surprising result given the images of bloody confrontation being broadcast out of Madrid. At around 9 p.m. local time, some 30 minutes before the protest permit demonstrators had been granted to rally in the vicinity of the national Congress was set to expire, violent skirmishes broke out between police and protesters. Firing rubber bullets into the crowd and charging with tactical batons, the large contingent of 1,300 riot, or antidisturbios officers seemed at times to be as much attempting to push back the rally as to trying to avoid being overwhelmed by the protesters, who numbered in the thousands. It was a bloody exclamation point on a tense, all-day rally -- denominated as the #25S demonstrations to "surround the Congress and rescue democracy" -- that saw plenty of arrests earlier in the day. About an hour after the initial charges, police had cleared out most of the area immediately near the national palace, but were still engaged in shoving matches on the outskirsts of Madrid's Plaza Neptuno, where most congregated. Under the watchful eye of the mythical Greek god of the sea and being observed by thousands around the world via live webcast, protesters chanted "The people united, will never be defeated," "You call it democracy, but it's not" and "Being police, I'd be ashamed of that." Holding up banners and placards, close to 10 p.m. local time, the protesters began chanting "These are our weapons. These are our weapons." Madrid riot police have cleared Plaza de Neptune of protesters, with about 200 officers securing the surrounding blocks. At least 60 people have been injured and 26 arrested as police used batons and rubber bullets to disperse the crowd. Local emergency services have confirmed that at least 60 people, including eight policemen, were injured in clashes between police and protesters, El Pais reports. One of the wounded is believed to be in critical condition, while one of the injured policemen suffered a severe concussion. Riot police dispersed the protesters, dragging some who had tried to get through police lines by their arms and legs. An uneasy order was restored and reinforcements were brought in to try and disperse the crowd. Thirteen of those arrested have been detained after a group of protesters tried to break through the police barrier for the first time. Further arrests were carried out during the following clashes, bringing the total number of arrests to some 60, El Pais reported. Authorities estimate that about 6,000 people took part in Tuesday's protest. Over 1,300 riot police officers were deployed in the capital, which is more than a half the country's riot police force. Protests organizers have decided to repeat the protest and block the Parliament once again on Wednesday. Riot police clashes video: Students protest school cuts in Italy

Hundreds of students in Milan clashed with police during protests against cuts to education in Italy. Students carrying shields and wearing motorcycle helmets threw eggs and oranges at police in riot gear. At one point, dozens of riot police charged the protesters, hitting them repeatedly with batons and forcing them away from regional government offices. Protesters also gathered in Rome on Friday to voice their anger at the Italian government and European Union austerity measures, which they claim are affecting the right to education, and impoverishing public schools. RIOT POLICE & PROTESTERS in BRUTAL CLASHES outside parliment in Madrid [DEMOCRACY KIDNAPPED]

Madrid riot police have cleared Plaza de Neptune of protesters, with about 200 officers securing the surrounding blocks. Thousands of activists have congregated in Madrid's Plaza de Neptune, 100 meters from the Congress building, to protest Spanish austerity measures. The demonstrators pledged to march around the building, and called for new elections. Metal barriers have been placed around the building to block access from every possible direction. Demonstrators waved banners with the slogan 'No' written on them, in reference to the austerity policies of the Spanish government. Protesters said that today is a key day to level criticism against politicians and the Spanish government. The city stationed armored police vehicles bumper-to-bumper around the parliament building, and announced that around 1,300 police would be deployed to counter the protesters. The organizers of the protest dubbed their movement 'Surround Congress,' and expressed hopes that thousands would turn out. The protestors called themselves 'indignants' and claimed that their democracy had been 'kidnapped,' calling for new elections and rallies against the austerity measures enacted by Mariano Rajoy's government. Some 200 demonstrators gathered near the city's main railway station chanting "Rescue democracy," and "This is not a crisis, it's a swindle." Another 100 protesters were scattered across the city's main square, the Plaza de Espana. "This is not a real democracy. This is a democracy kidnapped by the parties in collaboration with the economic powers and the people have no say in it," said Romula Barnares, a 40-year-old artist wearing sunglasses with a dollar sign on one lens and a euro sign on another. Austerity has hit every Spanish family and caused people who had been core supporters of the public sphere out of the country, says Carlos Delclos, a sociologist at Pompeu Fabra University. "Austerity right now is at the level where it's affecting people's daily lives. It is affecting whether or not people can get medical attention, whether or not people can advance socially through education and social progress," Delclos told RT. "What you are seeing is a country where an entire generation is being relegated to a class of emigrants. People who have been investing into public money are now going to move out and generate wealth in other countries. That's not a project for our country." But Miguel-anxo Murado, a journalist and writer, told RT that he thought their demands are too vague and that they would not be successful, "it seems that they are back with the same very vague and ambitious platform and in-fact they have been over shadowed by a different constitutional challenge, which is for the independence movement in Catalonia, which is more likely to change the constitution, although in a different way, so I'm afraid they will probably not have a huge success today." Spain is in the middle of its second recession in two years, and faces a 25 percent unemployment rate. Madrid introduced the controversial austerity measures in a gesture meant to show that it intends to fix its debt and budgetary shortfalls. The European Central Bank granted Spain a 100 billion euro rescue loan for its banks, but the country has not decided whether to seek another bailout. Europe's financial leaders are pleading for Spain to reduce volatility in its markets by deciding whether or not to request the second loan. During a September 15 protest, waves of some 50,000 anti-austerity demonstrators converged in downtown Madrid, blowing whistles and hoisting banners that read, "They are destroying the country, we must stop them." Representatives from over 230 civic and professional organizations also turned out amid cries of "lies," and "enough."

Egypt Riots Enrage - Protesters Clash With Riot Police & Military

LEBANON - Security forces opened fire in the northeastern Lebanese city of Tripoli, killing one person after a crowd angry over the film set fire to a KFC and a Hardee's restaurant. About 25 people were wounded in the melee, including 18 policemen who were hit with stones and glass. SUDAN - Several hundred protesters stormed the German Embassy in the capital, Khartoum, burning a car parked behind its gates and trash cans. Police fired tear gas, pushing the protesters outside the embassy's gates. There appeared to be no injuries to embassy staff and no apparent damage to the building. Most protesters dispersed, but a group marched to protest at the nearby British Embassy. YEMEN - Security forces shot live rounds in the air and fired tear gas at a crowd of around 2,000 protesters trying to march to the U.S. Embassy in the capital, Sanaa. Police kept the crowd about a block away from the embassy. Friday's demonstration came a day after hundreds stormed the embassy compound and burned the American flag. EGYPT - Riot police clashed with hundreds of protesters blocks away from the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, as the president broadcast an appeal to Muslims to protect embassies and tried to patch up strained relations with Washington. After weekly prayers, a crowd in Cairo's Tahrir Square tore up an American flag, and waved a black, Islamist flag. When protesters tried to move toward the embassy, ranks of police confronted them, firing tear gas. IRAN - Thousands shouted 'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel' in Tehran in a demonstration after Friday prayers. Some burned the American and Israeli flags. State TV says similar protests were held in other Iranian cities. BAHRAIN - More than 2,000 protesters chanted against the film and burned American and Israeli flags after Friday prayers in a Shiite mosque in Diraz, outside the capital, Manama. Security forces were absent, even though the area is a hotbed of opposition in Bahrain's 19-month Shiite-led uprising against the Sunni ruling system. Separately, Bahrain's Interior Ministry ordered media regulators to attempt to block access to the film clip in the Gulf kingdom. IRAQ - Hundreds demonstrated in Baghdad's northern Sunni neighborhood of Azamaiyah, some shouting: 'No, no America! No, no to Israel,' and, 'We are ready to sacrifice ourselves for our Prophet.' Dozens also marched in Baghdad's Sadr City, a poor Shiite area in the capital's northeast. In the southern city of Basra, about 1,000 took to the streets and burned the American and Israeli flags. One banner said: 'Freedom doesn't mean offending two billion Muslims.' TUNISIA - A crowd of several thousand demonstrators protested outside the US embassy in Tunis. Police respond to stone-throwing with tear gas. An AP reporter on the scene witnessed several people overcome by intense clouds of gas. An army helicopter flew overhead while armored vehicles protected the embassy. ISRAEL - The Israeli police say about 400 people marched toward the U.S. consulate in east Jerusalem in protest over the prophet film. Demonstrators threw bottles and stones at police, who responded by firing stun grenades. Four protesters were arrested and the crowd was prevented from reaching the U.S. consulate. WEST BANK - In the city of Nablus, about 200 people demonstrated against the film as Muslim clerics throughout the territory preached against it in Friday sermons. SYRIA - About 200 protesters waved the Syrian flag and shouted anti-American slogans outside the long-closed U.S. Embassy in Damascus. The crowd held banners saying: 'He who curses the Prophet doesn't seek democracy' and 'a nation whose Prophet is Mohammad, would never kneel down.' The U.S. embassy has been closed since February because of the country's bloody conflict that has killed about 23,000 people. AFGHANISTAN - About 1,500 protested in the eastern city of Jalalabad, shouting 'Death to America' and urged President Hamid Karzai to cut relations with the U.S. PAKISTAN - Hundreds of hardline Muslims held peaceful protests against the film throughout Pakistan, shouting slogans and carrying banners criticizing the U.S. and those involved in the film. Police in Islamabad set up barricades and razor wire to prevent protesters from getting to the diplomatic enclave, where the U.S. Embassy and many other foreign missions are located. Protests were also held in Karachi, Peshawar and Lahore, where protesters shouted 'Down with America' and some burned the U.S. flag. About 200 policemen and barbed wire ringed the U.S. Consulate in Lahore. GREAT BRITAIN - In London, around 250 protesters marched noisily but peacefully through Britain's capital to the U.S. embassy. The group, which called itself the 'Defenders of The Prophet,' held placards denouncing the U.S. and perceived Western imperialism. TURKEY - Hundreds of people gathered in Istanbul's Beyazit Square to protest the prophet film. The protest was organized by Turkey's main Islamist political party, Saadet.

Video: Hundreds clash with riot police in Spain

Hundreds of protesters have clashed with riot police in Madrid over the new set of austerity measures. One person suffered a broken nose and three people were arrested. The protesters demonstrated on Friday evening outside the People's Party offices of Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy before clashing with riot police, AP reports. Police used batons to prevent the crowds from getting too close to the Socialist Workers' Party headquarters. The latest round of protests comes only two days after the previous unrest, when at least 76 people were injured in clashes, many by rubber bullets used by police. The injured included 33 police officers and 43 protesters -- mostly miners and their supporters. London Riots 2011 [ Our Crime ]

London Riots 2011 [ Our Crime ]

London Riots 2011 [ Our Crime ] Summer 2011's UK riots saw the biggest act of mass public criminality for a generation. Thousands of hours of footage, most on mobile phones, was shot by the people who were closest to the crime. They captured stories of theft, destruction and human tragedy over those four days. This is the story of the people who witnessed the action and the surprising ways they reacted to the chaos around them. These stories paint a very different picture and give us a very personal version of the story that played out on our television screens as the riots occurred http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00pj0m7

Korean store owners defend their business during the 1992 LA riots.

Korean store owners defend their business during the 1992 LA riots.

People ask, why in a modern civilized society do private citizens need to own firearms? Well, here's a great example. The police were no where to be found, mobs with bricks, bottles, and pipes were looting and burning stores, especially Korean owned stores. Some people were beaten then had their businesses destroyed. Others fled the area and found their stores destroyed when they returned days later. Few stood their ground and were willing to defend the businesses that their families built. Most people think that guns lead to violence and chaos, well all the chaos was down the street. I think Hal Fishman and Larry McCormick said it best. Larry, "It seems like every man on that roof was armed." Hal, "and thus far there does not seem to be any looting or burning at least right where they are." The store survived the riots and the building still stands 20 years later at Western and 5th. Riot Cops Take on Student Demonstrators in Montreal March 7, 2012

Riot Cops Take on Student Demonstrators in Montreal March 7, 2012

March 7, 2012 - Be forewarned: there is a fair amount of swearing in this video. And police brutality. Striking Montreal students occupy CEPUQ to protest a 75% tuition fee increase and other neo-liberal austerity measures. Over 30 riot police show up and use pepper spray, batons, stun grenades and other violent repression tactics against the unarmed students. Shown is a peaceful protestor brutally arrested, multiple people pepper sprayed and hit with shields and batons, riot cops throwing stun grenades, and multiple charges by the line of riot cops. The loud bangs are stun grenades that the riot cops threw low over the crowd, causing students to be hit with shrapnel- someone may lose an eye, and many folks took it in the face and neck. The final few seconds are especially chaotic- a cop smashed me in the elbow with his baton, and when I turned another one pepper sprayed me full in the face, that's why the last second of the video has gone white.

Riot police violently disperse Occupy DC with batons

Riot police violently disperse Occupy DC with batons

National Park Service police began slowly dismantling the Occupy DC encampment at McPherson Square on K Street early Saturday morning. Over the course of several hours, cops asked protesters to leave while authorities in hazmat suits combed the park and removed tents. Despite protesters insisting that the temporary structures were in compliance with the latest regulations imposed on the demonstrators, the cops continued to clear out the park throughout the course of the day. With only a small section of McPherson still spared by late afternoon, authorities eventually moved in and used force to clear the rest of the park. Protesters, passersby and journalists alike were assaulted as cops clad in riot gear stormed into the crowd and attacked anyone on the scene. Here cops are showing forcing a group of people out of the park with plastic shields and batons, only for them to fall into the mud and be crammed into a fence that prevented them from easily vacating the premises. Several arrests were reported, including one photojournalist, and many others were injured in the raid, including one RT cameraman.

NJ Police Kill A Man - Then Murder 1st Amendment - Riot Police Outnumber Protesters!!! Full Credit too: http://www.youtube.com/user/Charlie4Change In response to last week's killing of Barry Deloatch at the hands of 2 New Brunswick police officers, demonstrators rallied at the site he was shot dead. One of the rally's organizers and an innocent bystander on her bicycle were arrested by an army of New Brunswick police officers in riot gear... for no good reason. The investigating authorities still have not said why the officers killed Deloatch shortly after midnight on September 22, nor have they released the officers' names. Video shot by Sean Monahan of New Brunswick. Emotions ran very high Wednesday night as people poured into Ebenezer Baptist Church to discuss the recent fatal shooting of resident Barry Deloatch, and the steps needed to go forward and progress from the tragedy. Hosted by the NAACP, several members of civic organizations, the Deloatch family and pastor Gregory L. Wallace urged everyone in attendance to work together, become active members of the community to make their voices heard, and to see the fight through to ensure that they did not lose a family member in the future. Deloatch, 46, a resident of New Brunswick, was shot and killed by a bullet to his left side on Sept. 22 following a pursuit by two police officers on Throop Avenue. The names of the officers have not been made public. The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office has said that it was determined that Deloatch was not carrying a firearm at the time, but investigations continue as to whether he was in possession of another weapon. As of Sept. 29, the Prosecutor's Office has not released additional information as to what that weapon may have been. On a recording of police radio transmissions from the night of the shooting, an officer is heard saying that Deloatch was attempting to strike the officers with a stick. Bruce S. Morgan, president of the New Brunswick Area NAACP, said talk and planning was just as important as taking action, in order to formulate a successful plan to ensure that this is the "Last event in town under these circumstances." "We're here to help," he said. "We stand with this family." In London, a third straight night of disorder saw buildings, vehicles and rubbish dumps set alight, stores looted and police officers pelted with bottles and fireworks, as groups of young people rampaged through neighbourhoods. 2:05 video courtesy http://www.youtube.com/user/jellyfielders
